Day 2 - Brooklyn

Quintessental Brooklyn architecture...3 B's = Brownstone Brick Buildings.

Here's what I saw on my stroll around Brooklyn Heights today.  I read somewhere that Brooklyn use to be where the RICH ppl moved? at some point in time, Brooklyn was the
third largest city in America (really? musta been long long time ago).  Anyways, neat streets, neat buildings...

But then in the midst of it all...LOVE LA? I thought I left LA behind...who here loves LA?
I did run into some stupid LA girls in the train station that were talking up these cops who thought they were cute.  Was goin on and on about what LA's like and what's NY got? no shopping...ummm, cuz they were at the WRONG PLACE!! sigh...do your research.  LA's got nothing on NY.  [ I say this, but I live in LA... =  ( ]

And then there was this newly renovated? built? white building.  Still go the charms but a little different.  Refreshing, I guess.

To sum it up, today was a nice day.  Like these 2 Vespas...Manhattan and Brooklyn.  They each got their individual spirirt, but they go together like PB & J.  = )

OH! almost forgot.  The point of all the trekking today was to go to a fabric store to make my friend a bed cover.  VOILA! mission accomplished, but I hope she likes it.  =  P

*one more note: Five Guys Hamburger and Fries...  sigh, Burger Joint is STILL better.  I can almost smell it, just thinking about it. =  )

DAY 1 - UP and Down Broadway...

I dunno how I did it.  But, after spending a whole day wandering up and down Broadway, surviving 2 super soaking showers with my itsy bitsy umbrella...I managed to catch pictures of the streets...at EXACTLY the same places? strange.  You'll see DRY images and SOAKED images.  It's funny watching ppl scramble at the first few drops of rain. like musical chairs.

And at the moment it starts to rain, the umbrella vendors (UMBELLA! UMBELLA!) magically appear at just about every street corner, taking over the ice cold water vendors (ice watah! ice watah!)

So, after an afternoon of strolling in and out of stores, in and out of rain...I finally mosey-ed my way back to Brooklyn.  One step out of the Clark St. station...I see a GYRO truck.  YUM! Ok, almost dinner time...I'm gonna get one.  While I'm waiting...I feel a drop of rain, then a couple...then ALL OF SUDDEN, the sky cracks and POAW!!

My little umbrella doesn't save me from getting soaked...  One hand holding the useless thing, the other holding the piping hot Chicken Gyro...I decide I'll just enjoy it and stroll back to my friend's apt.  Shoes, socks, jeans, shirt...completely just drenched.  Somehow, that was self-satisfying.  Nothing makes the day more complete.  =  )

After peeling off all the wetness, showering and drying...I sit down, enjoy my gyro and access the damage on my poor credit card.  =  P

(top - right to left)
white pleat-detailed button down long top, black spaghetti strapped empire dress, tan s/l top with contrast collar piece, yellow leather lace flip flops, white tee w/ black floral print, blue burnout tee w/ blue floral print.

wooo...looks like I did a killing, huh? but I didn't break the bank, I really didn't.  It's about smart shopping.  =  )  Anyone will tell you that I LOVE bargains!!

Anyways, that's the end of DAY 1.  We'll see about tomorrow.

A dress for Janice...

Well, not really.  It's a dress I made recently to WEAR to my cousin (correction: niece), Janice's Wedding at the end of June.  CONGRATS AGAIN, Janice!

Inspiration? Aリトルブラックドレス (Little Black Dress) and グラフィク な ネックレス (Graphic Necklace) worn by Tory Burch (pretty good designs, I must say: toryburch.com) in the Japanese issue of ELLE (May '09).  The picture? I can't find at the moment...but, here was my "copy." =  )

1st sample: classic bubble s/l dress

There were some slight alterations in the body fit, length and what not...
which led to...

2nd Sample:

BETTER, after some minor alterations...here was MY interpretation.

FINAL:

LOUD, you say?  JUST the way I LIKE IT! =  )

Are hats allowed at weddings? maybe, an exception will have to be made.

Like it? Dislike it? Comments, please.

saboshop.com....still inching to it's launching...

Thought I'd take a break from THE website that's s'pose to be the center of this business. sigh...who knew it'd be this complicated. Guess that's why I'm not a web designer.  Hands on! I got to do everything hands on.

SO! to take a break from looking at gibberish HTML coding.  I thought I might as well upload some of my past works.  That way...I'll always kno where to find them.  =  )

MONICA - this started off as a portrait for my friend, Monica (who got married in Maui, 2006).  It was s'POSE to be a wedding gift...but somehow it was never finished until last year.  And well the ending product? still nice...but I didn't really like it.
FIRST OFF: it doens't LOOK anything like her.  sigh...so, needless to say, I didn't send off the gift.  In my book of wedding gifts...I still owe her.  =  (

SOPHIA: don't ask me where these names come from.  As you read on...you'll see I have random names for my drawings/designs...its as if they speak to me while I'm creating.  "Sophia. I want to be called - Sophia" OK! OK! Sophia it is.  So, the story behind this piece...also delivered late, BUT, it was delivered.  Was for my patternmaker friend - Maelle.  I saw this dress in one of the Fall L'Officiel issues and loved the draping and detail.  SO! I set off duplicating it in my drawing.  =  )  Not a bad turn out, I must say so myself.

The following 4 images were also drawn for Maelle.  She's now incorporated custom wedding/bridal/formal dresses and gowns to her business.  If you're in need of beautifully made dresses for your event, be sure to look her up in Temple City, CA.

GOWNS: ideas drawn from the mountain of wedding magazines out there on the shelves.

$500 bucks to the first person to tell me why these 5 girls below look like they are Martians decked out for a night out on the town? I dunno why, once uploaded, the colors go do their own crazy thing.

and LAST: CELIA & ROBYN - as you probably have figured out now, Maelle's choice in color is purple (cept for those Martian freaks above...who ORIGINALLY, wore shades of purple but now since they have blue skin...it would clash so they chose reds and pinks.  sigh...out of countrol!!).

Questions, comments...I'm open to all.  Mainly, tho...this is just for my own archiving.  =  )
More works will be posted as soon as I dig them up.
